Homework:
1. After reading the article I've come to the realization that I am one of those teachers that are living the in the 20th century. The driving force in my classroom is the achievement of my student's academic goals and using as many modalities to attain student engagement. Student choices in my classroom are limited and are only available to them during small group time or centers. The lack of resources and training in the area of technology has put my students at a disadvantage.
2. We could incorporate wikispaces to poll students interests for research projects or reports. This would be an advantage, students would be able to choose projects that would engage them and therefore make learning meaningful. Due to the lack of advanced technology, available to my students at this time this would be a major step in bridging the gap the presently exists with my students in that area.
3. Would my students be able to experience the four elements discussed in this article. Definitely! But would it be expedited in an immediate and less stressful manner? Perhaps not, but until schools catch up with the 21st way of learning students will be left at a disadvantage while the rest of the world races on.
